Webinar - Mars & the Outer Planets - Fifty Shades of Red

Fifty Shades of Red MISPA

MISPA Webinar | 15 November 2020 | Mars & the Outer Planets - Fifty Shades of Red

In Hellenistic astrology, the planet Mars finds his Joy in the 6th House, the house of twilight, suggesting that, as the Sun sets and twilight time emerges - a time that blends shadow and light together to various degrees - Mars engages many shades of his own hue, red, regardless of house placement.

Red is anger, passion, blood, strength, and inflammation. Red is also the beauty of a rose, with its thorns never far away. Red flags indicate warnings. Red evokes the "rubedo" stage of alchemy, the stage where success lies within reach - the engagement of one's own will. In myth, Mars births Victory. In astrology, the discovery of the outer planets Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, have brought many more shades to Mars’ palette.

This webinar explores the nature of the red planet and the powerful dynamics that occur when Mars, considered a “personal” or “inner” planet, must contend with the outer planets in the natal chart and by transit.

Podcast - Guest on The Basement Astrologers

The Basement Astrologers.jpg

Recently, I was a guest on Kipp Dubow’s podcast called “The Basement Astrologers.” We talked about Saturn in Aquarius, the “bookend” conjunctions of 2020, and the U.S. Pluto Return. You can listen here:

Saturn in Aquarius with Shawn Nygaard

We recorded the podcast a couple of weeks after the death of George Floyd and the resulting protests and riots in Minneapolis, the United States, and around the world. Civil rights and social justice come to call when Saturn moves through Aquarius, yet so does the kind of oppression that makes protests necessary. Saturn in Aquarius draws our attention to the margins of societies and, in 2020, 2021, and beyond, demands that we acknowledge that Black Lives Matter.

Webinar - The Astrological Sun, The Radiant Self - 20 June 2020

The Astrological Sun 2 600.jpg

MISPA Webinar | 20 June 2020 | The Astrological Sun - The Radiant Self

Human life on earth relies on the sun, the centre of our solar system. This reliance is so strong that in astrology the sun represents life itself, a person's vitality and creative force, the alive self. The Sun as a symbol and an image proliferates the world of art, which isn't surprising considering that Apollo, the god of the sun, presides over the Muses, those behind-the-scenes goddesses who inspire the arts and sciences. The sun reliably returns to the sky every day, yet all days are not sunshine and roses. Sometimes it's difficult for the Sun of our self to shine.

What constitutes the astrological Sun? This webinar explores the Sun mythology of different cultures and their respective symbolism pertaining to this brightest of radiant lights. We will also explore how the other planets in astrology interact when in conjunction with the Sun, as well as essential dignities related to the Sun's position by sign.
