The Life of Death

15.00

The Life of Death is a recording of a live talk presented at the Minnesota Jung Association, exploring the archetype of Death.

The archetype of Death is an entrance into mystery, perhaps not as grave and grievous as the reputation which precedes it. In The Red Book, Carl Jung notes, "We need the coldness of death to see clearly." Considering that western culture avoids Death to the extent that we seem to have killed Death and left it for dead, in this intriguing presentation – a memorial, of sorts – Shawn Nygaard looks back on "the life of Death" in a way that revives it in our imaginings and wonderings. Like opening a cold case and renewing the investigation with fresh eyes, Shawn takes a look at the extraordinarily vital role Death plays in life.
